The Prayer Ministry lays the foundation of prayer for the whole Community. It began in 1976 as one of the first ministries of the Community of the Crucified One. We meet once a week to lift up the prayers that have been written down and put into the prayer box during that week. During this time, we also lift up the needs of the Community, the missions, the sick, our country and other requests. Each written request is prayed over and then read out loud. They are then put in a prayer burse, taken to the Chapel, and laid on the altar before Our Lord for that week. We have had testimonies of many prayers answered during this time, and even afterwards. The Lord Himself spoke to our Undershepherd and laid out the format for what the Prayer Ministry would do on Monday nights.

We also sponsors an annual Homeless Drive each Valentines day, in memory of our pastors mother, the late Elizabeth Donovan. We began in 1991, and each year we reach out to homeless and aged shelters for men and women in the Pittsburgh area. We also participate in making fruit baskets for shut-ins during community celebrations. The Prayer Ministry at the Motherhouse meets every Monday night from 7:30 pm until 9:00pm, and all are welcome.
