Bishop Jonathan M. Stewart was born on September 3, 1974 in the small American State of Vermont. He was raised by his father, Reverend William Stewart and mother, Kathleen Stewart, as well as a very large “church family.” He is blessed with a beautiful wife, Bethany R. Stewart, B.S. PA-C, and three beautiful girls, Ella, Kylie, and Caelyn.

Bishop Stewart began his undergraduate studies at Allegheny College and finished them at Point Park University graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in the summer of 1996. During this time he also began to serve in ministry as a music director. Shortly after graduating with his B.A., he began his legal studies at Duquesne University School of Law. In 2000 he graduated with a Juris Doctorate and thereafter became a practicing member of the Pennsylvania Bar. Bishop Stewart was ordained a minister by the Community of the Crucified One on November 19, 2006.

Sadly, on June 14, 2008, Bishop Stewart lost his lifelong pastor and mentor Bishop Edward Donovan. Following the events commemorating Bishop Donovan’s life, his wishes regarding a successor to his position were read and ratified by the church elders appointing Bishop Stewart to his present calling. Bishop Stewart was formally installed as the Bishop of the Community of the Crucified One on July 19, 2008.

The “CCO” as it is affectionately known, has ministries throughout the United States, Kenya, Israel and Jamaica with missionaries also serving in Brazil, India and recently Costa Rica. Bishop Stewart is also an elected official in the municipality of Homestead, PA and serves on several multi-municipal boards. In addition to his public service he also serves on the boards of several ecumenical, Christian and humanitarian organizations that are internationally focused. He taught several years as an adjunct professor of Political Science and World History, but now has the great privilege of preaching and teaching the Word of God. Bishop Stewart believes everything can be reduced to one simple truth: Jesus Christ loves us and He forgives us, unconditionally!
